Facilities
bullet

We currently use the facilities of Camp Conrad-Chinnock.   Operated by Diabetic Youth Services, Inc.  The camp is located 7,000 feet above sea level in the Barton Flats Recreation Area within the San Bernardino Mountains and is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Meals are provided by staff employed at Camp Conrad-Chinnock.

Transportation

Campers: We charter two, 47 passenger luxury coaches contracted through Coach USA of Long Beach, Ca. (round trip) between the Orange County Fair Grounds and camp.

Please be at the 4-H office by 8:00 to get checked in and get your luggage on the bus.

bullet

The bus will depart Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. and return again on Saturday afternoon about 2:30 p.m.

Parents are welcome to deliver their campers directly to camp if they wish.
bullet

Please call the 4-H office and let the staff know what your plans are so the bus is not waiting for you.

Do not arrive at camp before noon.

If you need to pick up your camper early.

Anyone still on site when the bus gets ready to depart will be put on the bus.

Counselors and Adults are responsible for their own transportation.

(University policy does not allow 4-H members under the age of 18 to transport other 4-H members to official functions.)

Parking at camp in minimal.  Carpooling is recommended.

If someone is picking you up at end of camp, they should arrive no later that noon on Saturday.

Directions to camp Conrad-Chinook from Orange County 
(Do not use  the 210 / 330 to go to Big Bear Lake.  It will take you about two hours out of your way.)

Take Interstate 10 East towards Banning

bullet

After passing Highway 30, exit to Orange Ave.  Turn Left

bullet

Travel about a half mile and turn right on Lugonia Street (Highway 38)

bullet

Stay on Highway 38 for about 28 miles go past the Jinks Lake West turn off.

bullet

About a half mile past the Barton Flats Ranger Station turn right at Jinks Lake East.

bullet

Follow Jinks Lake East for about a mile or so.  Look for the Camp Conrad-Chinnock sign on the right side of the road.

The road is unpaved and in rather poor condition.

Adult Co-Directors Marilyn Milligan and Ron Bartels.  Both have been involved in this program for over 14 years.

Two youth Directors that are responsible for planning as well as the day to day operation of the camp.

One Counselor, Junior Counselor and Adult chaperone for each cabin.

Medical (licensed health professional)

Youth are not permitted to have any medication with them in their cabin.  All medications should be checked-in with the UC staff along with a medical treatment form describing how the medications is to be administered.  All medications will be administered by the camp RN.
