On a warm Sunday afternoon, the Horse and Pony Project went to Huntington Beach Equestrian Center and visited the Polo Club.  The members got to meet the horses and found out that most polo players have at least two horses.  Many polo players have a stable full since the game is very fast and the horses get tired - they can be tired in as few as seven minutes!  We also found out that horses wear shin guards - just like soccer players - so if the ball or the mallet hits them they won't be injured.  We learned some of the rules of polo, and watched a scrimmage game.

On November 1, the Horse and Pony Project visited the Equine Veterinary Associates in Yorba Linda.  Dr. Wan gave a tour of the clinic.  He showed us the medical stalls, the surgery room, the triage room, and the scale.  He also allowed the members to sit on the hydraulic surgery table for the horses.  Dr. Wan answered questions and went over what colic is and how important water is to a horse's health.
