ORANGE ACRES BACKBREAKERS
2001 - 2002

Our community project this year for the
sewing group is a quilt. The design of the quilt is called "Flying
Geese" from "Quilt-in-a-day".
First step in making a quilt is to press your fabric after washing. Then
we needed 7 1/2" by 7 1/2" squares and 9" by 9"
squares. The members spent a day over winter break cutting these squares
out. It took many hours - we sustained our energy with a bountiful supply
of cookies.

As a Community Service Project, the sewing
members decorated a Christmas tree titled "Let it Sew, Let it Sew, Let it
Sew". This tree was decorated by the members with sewing notions
including needles, thread, tape measure, scissors, and many more useful sewing
items. This was a really fun project! The tree was donated to the
tree aucion at the "VERY SPECIAL ARTS CALIFORNIA GALLERY" in the Main
Street Mall. The proceeds will benefit artists with special needs.
