Holiday Spirit Party and General Meeting
On December 13, OABB held their General Meeting and Holiday Spirit Party. Immediately after the business portion of the meeting, Santa made an appearance. All the members gathered around in a circle with their gifts to exchange while Santa read a story about Mr. Left and Mr. Right - each time the members heard "left" or "right" they needed to pass their gift in that direction. Things were pretty hectic at times.
But OABB also thought of others less fortunate during the Holidays. Each family donated money to help out and buy a microwave and other gifts for a needy family; members wrapped those gifts during the meeting. And each family donated food and canned goods. It is our hope that that family, too, will enjoy the holiday season.
Christmas Caroling in OPA (via Horseback, Hay Wagon, Pickup...)
It's pretty futile to wait for a White Christmas in Southern California so you can go Christmas caroling in a horse-drawn sled. But Christmas Caroling is a universal activity - snow or no snow. So we make the rounds in Orange Park Acres any way we can - horseback, hay wagon, or pickup truck. OABB 4H joined the OPA trails committee for this outing.
The horses and their owners showed the Holiday spirit by donning bows, antlers, hats, garland - just about anything seasonal for a little decoration. It truly did look like Christmas - despite the near 80 degree weather!
