The 4-H Uniform

Is there a 4-H uniform?  Well, the answer is yes and no.   There is a uniform but no member is required to wear a uniform at 4-H sponsored events or activities.  Please note that fairs are not sponsored by 4-H, and fairs in California do require participants to wear the uniform.   The "unofficial" uniform consists of the following:

bulletGreen hat for primary, junior, and intermediate members
bulletWhite hat for senior members
bulletWhite blouse or shirt
bulletWhite pants, slacks, jeans, or skirt
bulletGreen scarf for girls and a green tie for boys
bulletMore detailed information can be provided by your project leaders.  The hat, scarf, and tie may be purchased from the Leslie Carman supply catalog.  The California 4-H website is an excellent source for information on the 4-H hat guidelines. Another source on hat etiquette is 4-H Club Hat Etiquette.

Record Books: Newly revised, beginning fall 2006 record should be kept on the following forms:
bulletJunior, intermediate, and senior members should complete a report for every project they are enrolled.  Entries should be brief yet  thoroughProject records are recorded on the Annual Project Report.
bulletAdditional records are recorded on the 4-H Personal Development Report.  This form should, also, be completed by junior, intermediate, and senior members.  You have the option to use the PDR-Short Form or the PDR-Long Form, it depends on the amount of information you are recording.  Helpful workshops are held at the county office at various times throughout the year. It is highly recommended that you attend the county workshops!
bulletJunior and teen leaders must complete the Junior and Teen Leadership Report. throughout the year.  Complete one report for each project you are a junior or teen leader.
bulletLinks to the above forms can be found on the California 4-H State website under 4-H Recognition-Record Books, scroll down to the forms section or in the forms library on the county website.
bulletTo help you learn more about the above record book forms click on to the state record book information page at More About Record Books..
bulletPrimary members complete a modified record book by filling out the Primary Member 4-H Personal Development Report.
