Down Syndrome Assoc of Orange County 4-H Club
The Down Syndrome Association of Orange County 4-H Club is a Special Interest Group that is being established at the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County in order to make the 4H program available to persons with Down syndrome and their families. Membership will not be limited beyond normal 4H guidelines, and the group will meet on a weekday at the DSAOC office in Costa Mesa (151 Kalmus Drive, Suite M-5 Costa Mesa, CA 92626). The Group Co-Leaders will be Linda Jensen and Gerard Jensen; Gerard Jensen will also serve as DSAOC liaison as he is a member of the DSAOC BOD.
The goal of the group is first to provide a rewarding 4-H experience for group members. The secondary aim of the group is to afford modes of access to the traditional county events and pioneer such modes of accommodation and access (food fiesta, fashion review, presentation day, youth expo, the county fair), and separately to afford rewarding project experiences that are ability accommodating and that lead to the ability to complete appropriately adapted record books. The group will work with the county to explore the possibilities for maximum possible inclusion including the traditional 4-H reward systems (e.g. medals and Star ranks).
